I
was awarded the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial
Consultant (ChFC) designations from the American College on 1st May 1998
and the year 2000 respectively. These are the highest professional
designations available to insurance agents. Probably less than 200 out of
the 12 000 odd agents in Singapore
have them. I was also promoted to the rank of Executive Agent in April 1998
which consists of the top 4 % agents in Great Eastern Life.
My 'Universal Rule of Insurance' was printed in
the Feb.1998 issue of the Financial Planner magazine as well. Happy
reading! I also conducted a workshop for members of the now defunct SDU (Social Development Unit - a
government-run body to help graduates get married) in the year 1997 on this
topic.
Hobbies
Enjoys good
foreign films for its exposure to its native culture and scenery. Sometimes
a well-made film actually entertains and educates you far more than a trip
to the place itself. I’ve also started collecting paintings (only six
so far) and love roaming art collections. Also enjoy a good debate anytime.
Much
as I love movies, nothing beat the 3-D version and I'm referring to
travelling of course. I love to travel and you may want to try my Virtual
Tourist website. Some of you may find my musings raw or caustic but
most of my visitors find them funny.
Aspirations
Aim to live
happily without making anyone else unhappy while engaged in its pursuit.
Also seek to be recognized as a competent and reliable insurance agent who
is capable of being a good friend as well.
Quotes
Buddhists
spend an entire life learning how to live in the present moment.
Tan Suee Chieh, CEO of NTUC
Income, on the subject of effective learning.
Life is
uncertain. Death is certain.

My one
month retreat as a monk in a Thai monastery earned me the renunciation
name "Punyalapo". My Buddhist
name "Tenzin" was given by Ven
Sanghe Khadro of the Amitabha
Buddhist Centre literally means :- The one who holds the
Teachings.
|
My Epitaph-to-be:
Here lies Tenzin Quek Gim Soon.
May he rest in peace,
Having helped people die in peace.
