HistoryCity prev | upnext

HistoryCity is a networked 3D virtual environment designed to teach children about Singapore history. It was developed by Kent Ridge Digital Labs for the National Computer Board, Singapore.

Working as one of the members of the development team, I was involved in the gameplay and user interface design, and helped carry out usability testing. I was also responsible for the initial client-side implementation.

This project required that we create a fun and engaing environment in which children could work together to learn about history. From a design perspective, this meant we had to consider not just the user interface, but also the instructional design and game design. There were numerous technical issues involved, including creating a fast and responsive networked 3D environment on the low-end machines and slow dial-up lines available at the time.
