Overview

Stellar Conquest is a futuristic space exploration game for 2-4 players. Each player controls an expedition of space colonists at a corner of the board as they expand throughout the mapboard.

At game start, players command a fleet of warships and colonists and has to explore and settle onto planets as soon as possible. After settling down on a planet, the population will grow and begin production for the player. Production points can be used to develop new technologies, factories, new ships and planetary defences.

New colonists may also be sent to settle on other newly discovered planets.

In the latter phases of the game, expanding empires will meet each other, and battles will be fought for control of planets. Victory is determined at the end of the game by the number and type of planets that each player controls.

Comments

This game is very heavy on keeping track of figures. Everything from the population growth of planets, production, planetary defences have to be recorded. Its a wonder that anyone not an accountant plays this game.

From the rules, the game looks like a cross between the traditional wargame and the "german" type family game. Unfortunately, it fails at both, and the end result plays more like a 4-player solitaire game.
