Illuminati

Overview

Illuminati is a card game of world domination through stealth and clandestine operations. Players take the role of secret organisations known as Illuminati. Each Illuminati has distinct abilities which represents its outlook in the world.

In the game there are many groups besides the Illuminati. These groups are represented by cards, which list the groups' stats like power, resistance and income.

Illuminati try to take over these groups in the game. As they do so, they will increase their power and income. The first player to control the requisite number of groups win.

Each Illuminati may control up to four other groups directly. Powerful groups may themselves control other groups. The ability to control other groups is indicated on the card by control arrows. Each control arrow allows the group to control another group. A group may only be controlled by one group.

Comments

Illuminati has expansions sets (1 through 3) which increases the number of groups in play, as well as introduce additional Illuminati groups. All are out of print for some time now. I heard that it was superceded by a collector card game (CCG) called Illuminati: New World Order. However, I am not familiar with that game, nor am I inclined to get myself familiar, given its collector element.

Illuminati is a simple and fun game to play. I am glad I have my copy.
