yeah nights off! finally got some time off to rest my aching arms and legs, as well as an exhausted mind after a week of gruelling training. hmm lets see, we had our platoon harbouring lectures and practises on tuesday in grenade hill aka mosquito hill. not only was it tiring but also damn irritating having like 70-80 mosquitoes surrounding u buzzing around your ear and biting you through your uniform. wednesday was a 7km endurance run in the morning followed by section outfield exercises. had to do some search and destroy missions over and over again up and down the friggin steep slopes of rambutan hill till they were satisfied. and then we were given and impossible timing of 30 mins to a). clean weapon b). send arms c). wash off every bit of camou cream left on our faces (which is much harder than it sounds) d). change to admin attire e). have dinner f). fall in in civilian clothes. yup we were supposed to meet the timing in order to get nights off last night but apparently even after doing every superfast we were about 2 mins late. so.. too bad. no nights off. had our first ever swimming lesson today. quite tiring but at least it was kinda fun. wished i had my goggles with me though, it's quite difficult to keep your head above the water constantly. anyway this is just the beginning for my swimming lessons. we'll be doing combat swim later on, which means swimming in our uniform, boots and everything, a rifle and our full battle order. oh wait, and we still have our high confidence jump which according to our sergeants is 4 storeys high. wish me luck.

never anticipated the nights off we were given today. they were probably feeling guilty after seeing the entire platoon in such low morale last night. took the opportunity to wash my dirty uniform.. or i won't have enough to last through the tekong field camp. will be leaving for tekong on sat. sigh.. dej avu all over again. i hardly miss the feeling of being in the fastcraft. tekong, though just 15 mins by ferry away, makes you feel so darn isolated from civilian life. even the night sky looks different from the view from mainland. the sky is completely filled with stars, a scene you'll never get from any other part of singapore.

read yesterday's new paper report bout some jc girl who commited suicide.. due to stress?? gosh.. jc life isn't that stressful what. i've experienced it myself and i've hardly felt any stress from schoolwork? maybe its the way i like to live my life.. carefree and optimistic. haha. even up to the actual A level exams i tell myself, should i screw this up, just fuck it and at most repeat jc, and i'll study a little harder the next time. what's the point of pressurizing yourself and make your brains less efficient? heh.

guess i should get some sleep now when i still can. desperately need to recuperate before my next 7km endurance run tomorrow. 7km in 42 mins, shouldn't be too difficult since i completed yesterday's quite comfortably. i just hope the weather will be good..

and there goes my long weekend that seems damn bloody short. oh well.. at least it was considerably well spent. got to meet up with my classmates yesterday and went out with my bunkmates today. caught house of 1000 corpses at lido today. some satanic film by rob zombie. it was quite boring and i fell asleep at the last 15 mins or so. anyway according to my friends, many pple left the cinema before the show ended. lucky its a weekday and the tic is only $6.50.

oh i realised channel u is showing on track or off. i caught every episode of this hongkong serial when it was shown on channel 55 last year.. even though it was during my A levels period. very addictive.. heh. and there's this girl who's quite chio.. think she's called yingyi in the show.

k time to start packing my stuff. 5 sets of uniform plus lots of food to last me for the next 2 weeks. no idea how they're gonna fit in my bag. oh shit just remembered i was supposed to prepare an ironed smart 4 for my national day observance parade.. argh heckz no time for that now. gotta be back in camp by 10.30pm..

just got back from the field camp at marsiling. did all those section movement shit over and over again. the only enjoyable part was probably the 2 "missions" we had. enemies were placed around the forest and we had to waste them if we get contacted. quite fun.. except the part where i lost the safety ring after throwing the smoke grenade. went back to the site after all the exercises were over and amazingly managed to recover it.

morale hit an all time low at the last day of our field camp. me and 5 others were fucked upside down for the stupidest of mistakes cos one of my bunkmates kept trying to reason with the sergeant. and for that reason, we were all made to serve guard duty tomorrow. sigh. guess the only thing to look forward to now will be the long weekend next week. if nothing goes wrong we'll get to book out on fri night and book in on monday. this is to make up for the weekend which we won't get to book out the week after cos of the 6 day field camp in tekong.

this coming week will be yet another boring one. lotsa outfield training in the jungles around my camp. the ones OCS cadets use all the time. then in between outfield lessons will be the 6km followed by 7km endurance runs. don't think we'll get much free time anymore. no more daidee marathons.. or long talk cock sessions.. heh. but in a way i guess this helps to pass time faster.

ok time to pack my stuff.. oh and before i forget. here's the quote of the week. this was the conversation between one of my fellow section mates and my sergeant i overheard through the radio comms during the navi exercise.

"there's a dog in front of me"
"is it chasing you?"
"no, but it's staring at me. do i use the thunderflash?"
"no. stare back at it"

HAHAHAHAhaaaaa..

grr i hate going outfield. just finished this navigation exercise at ama keng the other day. this week will be a 5 day field camp at marsiling. 2 weeks later will be another field camp at tekong. sucks. no time to rant about it now, have to book in early to pack our stuff for tomorrow's field camp. wish me luck..

oh i just realised i didn't upload the previous post after saving it. hmm anyway i'm at home now, got nights off for doing well during our 5km endurance run just now. we were supposed to complete the 5km run in 32 mins but apparently the last guy reached within 28 mins. heh quite amazing, didn't think i'd make it. anyway we got to book out at 6.30 and will have to book in at 10.30 tonight. sucks man. shouldn't have come home.. but i only got to know the book in timing after i packed my stuff. it takes me bout 40 mins by cab to reach home, which leaves me with very little time left. oh well.. looking at the bright side, booking in early will mean we get more sleep. heh hope i won't fall asleep during lectures tomorrow. got lots of LAW (light anti-tank weapon) lessons tomorrow, followed by a LAW technical handling test. not sure what's up after that. just got our 'bible' 2 days ago. a superthick book on all the weapons and stuff specially compiled for my course. too bad i can't keep it, or even bring it home. highly sensitive stuff inside. heh.
okay think i'd better get off the com n start doing some packing around my room and get ready the stuff i need for book in later..
