February 26, 2003 9:21 PM] hmm it's my last day of work today. guess i'll miss that place, the people at prudential, as well as the busy office workers along robinson road we had to stop to do surveys. should be getting around $300 for the 20-odd hours of work. i wouldn't have minded working for half that pay since i was there more for the fun than the money. oh the lady in charge of us treated us lunch today at mos burger. she's prob the nicest to us of all the insurance agents there. took my final theory this evening. quite easy for me since most of the questions were the same as those in the revision tests by the driving centre. no wonder there's such a big difference between the centre's students' passing rate and a private students'. [Monday,
February 24, 2003 11:57 AM] oh and remember the other promise i made.. about me buying the match programme autographed by heskey. i made exactly 22 deals today! haha but i'm having second thoughts about buying the programme. when you're working your ass off just to make that couple of hundred bucks you don't wanna spend it unneccessarily. and also, i'm now considering the signed and framed poster of jamie redknapp that costs $280. i've been eyeing it for some time at bid4sport.com. it's not there anymore but here's is the photo of redknapp signing the poster. argh $280. ok maybe if i make 12 deals within the 2 hrs i'll be working tomorrow. heh. driving lesson tomorrow! should be fun.. will be learning right turns and U-turns on the roads. i've had 11 lessons so far, and covered 21 out of 33 'subjects'. am i a fast learner or what? both terence and zhonglian who're learning at the same driving centre as me are proceeding slower than me. i mean how many people can boast of having driven 70km/h in only their 3rd driving lesson?! hahahahaaa. ok enough narcissistic comments, i need to sleep now. haven't had proper sleep for over a week.. [Saturday,
February 22, 2003 2:27 AM] went PS after work. they've got this booth at courts that sells sporting memorabilia! autographed and framed posters, jerseys, photos.. mostly liverpool stuff. turned me on like totally.. but unfortunately the prices are far beyond my budget. the cheapest item they have is a match programme signed by emile heskey. $120. haha i told myself i'll buy it if i manage 22 deals on monday. i've been averaging 10-12 a day at the moment. my cousin called me up the other day and asked me to help him work on a major soccer website he and 2 of his friends are trying to create. they're willing to put in a couple of hundred dollars each every month to maintain it. agreed to do him the favour immediately. he wants something like asianbookie.com, but i seriously doubt i can do something as sophisticated as that. i'll give it a shot anyway.. [Tuesday,
February 18, 2003 11:59 PM] oh yah! and remember to come and support me hor. i'll be by the prudential building, which is right outside exit F of raffles place mrt. hehe. oh and when filling in the survey don't ever tell them you're a student else i won't get my commission! [Tuesday,
February 18, 2003 1:40 AM] jessica's got a job lobang, give out pamphlets for prudential and get people to join their insurance premiums or something. basic pay is $6/hr and you get $3 commission for each person you trick into signing up. heh. derek and yiwei took up the job, but my parents didn't want me do it (reasons sited include needing me to do housework when my maid leaves next week).. furthermore it clashes with my driving lessons. anyway i think i'll go down and disturb them after driving tmrw. hehe. oh yah and eunice finally found a job! haha.. working for some makeover company.. so if you need a makeover you know who to call.. :) added a tagboard after joanna's request. heh. thought of getting one for some time already anyway. drop me a msg whenever you're here yah?! :P [Monday,
February 17, 2003 1:06 AM] oh i went the serangoon place yesterday morning to give tuition. heh it was quite fun. i tutored this pri 2 boy whose original tutor didn't turn up. he was so shy at first.. kept fidgeting in his seat and dared not look at me, but he became more talkative after some time and started to get quite irritating, haha, and easily distracted his friends around him. taught him english and maths. his english is quite poor, which indirectly is also affecting his maths cos he doesn't understand what the question is actually asking, especially those long problem sums. quite a nice experience anyway.. heh first time someone addresses me as 'teacher', and it's quite fun to assign someone homework. ok vday was quite screwed. apparently while waiting for me (i was a liiiiittle late), baoying met some friend who just broke up or something and had to spend the night consoling her? not sure what happened also haven't had the chance to talk to her yet. anyway we didnt have dinner. had supper/dessert with yw crys derek n kw though. k this is for derek, and whoever might be interested: a day in the life of derek and kaiwen. [Thursday,
February 14, 2003 0:02 AM] oh met sandy outside heeren. she's still the same.. bubbly, cute, flirtatious. hahaha. think she wanted to go for supper together but i was way too tired. is today gay night or what? wahlao first we saw this tranvestite at far east while having dinner. gosh he/she was so freakin gross. it was holding on to another guy's hand, who is a head shorter than it. yah and that thing had coarse and too-big-for-a-girl hands, guyish face buried by an inch of makeup, and walks in a weird manner in her long dress. spoilt my apetite totally. ok then after dinner derek was looking for kaiwen's flowers, and the salesman at the florist outside tangs got so touchy with us, kept calling us darling and patting our shoulders. and with the gayest voice in the world he wished me happy valentines'!!? freaked me out. haha oh and he made the most insulting ever comment to me and derek. which we vowed never to reveal to anyone else. i can assure you though it has nothing to do with the salesman thinking the 2 of us were secondary school kids. sec 2.. to be precise. and when we mentioned the word JC he didn't say.. oh JC1? yah ANYWAY... i really need to sleep now. it's gonna be another long day tomorrow. driving at 8.30 in the morning and then the long awaited dinner with baoying! haha. should be fun. happy valentines' to all! :) [Thursday,
February 13, 2003 0:35 AM] oh jonathan chen has a blog! haha got it from shuqin's site. hmm haven't seen him for a super long time.. since prom i think. thanks for adding me to your links jon. :) [Tuesday,
February 12, 2003 1:56 AM] went amk library after driving.. they finally reopened after some major renovation. the place looks more spacious and pretty now, and they've put lotsa comfy armchairs around. almost fell asleep on one today. borrowed ron atkinson's biography, and a cab called reliable, the first novel i've ever borrowed. haha. i used to hate reading fiction, guess i'll give this one a try. the cover looked nice. i still haven't got my new enlistment letter from mindef! damnit i just checked their website and i'm still officially supposed to report for enlistment on the 19th, which is exactly a week away. i'll call them up tmrw to check.. hope they'll be open.. and hope they didn't lose my napfa results or something. hmm it's 3 days away from valentine's day. might be eating dinner with baoying, but nothing's confirmed yet since she might have to work, and some hunk might ask her out last min.. which is very likely being such a hot babe herself. haha.. and according to our initial plan she'll have to go with him instead. yahh.. so.. -shrug- derek might be coming over tmr to test out his chocolate coated strawberry thing which he plans to make for kaiwen on vday. heh agreed to let him come over since i'll get to eat it myself. yiwei should be coming over to help out too. yep then we might be watching the england vs aussie match together. ok i just checked tv times, it's at 4am.. i don't think they want to bunk over so maybe we won't be watching it afterall. February 9, 2003 0:14 AM] went serangoon moral family service centre today to apply for the volunteer thing. will try my best to go there every saturday morning to tuition primary school kids from next week onwards. i usually hangout with the guys tilll quite late on fridays, chances of me waking up on time the next morning are slim. oh baoying also signed up for the same programme.. supposed to go for it together today but she overslept. pigg. looks like liverpool's gonna need a miracle to get out of this slump. drew 1-1 at home with a team that hadn't scored an away goal since september. credit to liverpool for dominating large periods of the match and creating enough chances to win a couple of games, but their finishing was far from desirable. however liverpool's squad is simply too good for this dismal run to continue, so look on the bright side fellow reds. as the liverpool anthem goes, at the end of the storm, there's a golden sky, and the sweet silver song of a lark. [Thursday,
February 6, 2003 6:52 PM] heh it's quite exciting stopping by the REAL red lights at a real junction. i was right in front at the junction, and when i looked into my rear view mirror, there were cars stretching beyond what i can see. haha quite scary.. and pressurizing. everything went pretty smoothly after though.. i even drove up to 70km/h in 4th gear!!.. till my instructor was pleading me to slow down. lol there was a signboard saying 70kmh what.. not my fault. oh yah but i did stall once at the junction. lol. lifted my clutch too quickly when starting the car. then this @!#^)-ing woman behind overtook me!!!? h e l l o.. you're trying to overtake a michael schumacher in the making? i tried to catch up with her immediately, haha budden i guess her engine's more powerful or something lah. arggh i wanna learn to drive in a ferrari. yep overall things went pretty well. hrmm but i guess i made the roads a little bit unsafe for the other users. i always only notice stop signs after i've gone past them? haha. oh and luckily there weren't pedestrians at zebra crossings whenever i went past one cos braking's not my specialty. tried this nvc's ematch thing and they found me an organisation to volunteer. serangoon moral family service centre. they called me up this afternoon and said they needed a temporary tutor for weekends so it's just perfect for me. i'll be going down for an interview this sat. need to find out where it is though. serangoon ave 2. hmm they claim its near nyjc. February 2, 2003 2:55 AM] sigh. visiting's boring. there's nothing much to talk about with relatives. cousins, nephews and nieces are either too young or too old, making it tough for me to strike a conversation. the older ones were talking about work, kids, families, while the younger ones were just obsessed with little tops that can potentially kill or at least blind with their jagged metal blades. spent my day watching tv at grandma's place. no cable tv, had to make do with channel 8's movies. oh i managed to book more slots for my driving practical lessons! heh. go hold of 9 slots for february alone. i have to keep refreshing ssdc's site in hope of someone cancelling their slots so that i can take them. it's fully booked all the way till 3rd of march. okay need to sleep now. need to get up real early tomorrow, got lion dance and some relatives coming over.
