Greetings
to all of you who have taken the time to drop by for
a visit. My name is Karen – the owner of
ByDeBooK – and here is a little bit about
me…
I am a native Singaporean, a public relations
graduate of Edith Cowan University, a wife and mother
of two delightful little boys – aged 5 years and
11 months respectively.
It was my children who first kindled my passion for
children’s literature. As their interest in
books grew, I felt driven to seek out wide-ranging
and interesting titles from quality publishers to
feed their increasingly voracious appetites.
As my local searches often yielded unsatisfactory
results, I had a vision of opening my own
children’s bookstore right in the heartlands of
Singapore. I would then be able to track down and
import the very best children’s titles and share
them with like-minded parents, friends and people who
care what children read.
So, here we are! It’s been half a decade since
ByDeBooK began, and I’ve been living my dream! I
am blessed, and I owe my thanks to God for His grace
and guidance in what has been a challenging journey.
Being foremost a wife and mother, I can relate to
just how busy family schedules can be - trying to get
my kids to school with their projects and homework
completed, planning and attending birthday parties
and other social events, organizing play-dates,
parent volunteering, cooking, cleaning, and so on.
Despite our hectic family life,
my husband and I always make sure our kids learn to LOVE
books and reading, and most importantly - have FUN
while doing it! We hope we can help you do the same,
and experience some of the joy that this has brought
to our lives.
That’s what ByDeBooK is
all about!
