| During one of
my meetings with Sugano-san of Koetsu Japan in mid-1998, we were told that
a new cartridge was being developed which had the potential of performing
better than the venerable Onyx Platinum.
This cartridge will be equipped with the same Platinum-alloy core and coil set as the Onyx Platinum but will have a body machined out of a solid block of Jade - yes, Real Jade. In fact, Koetsu Japan had appointed a master craftsman who specialized in working with Jade to produce the very refined cartridge body. Now, after almost 2 years of development, Koetsu Japan is proud to introduce the new top of the line Koetsu, the Jade Platinum. Now, for a company which rarely feels the need to modify the composition of their existing cartridges, introducing a new top of the line cartridge (in this day and age) certainly make Vinyl Lovers sit up and listen. And listen you should if you ever get the chance for the Koetsu Jade Platinum is being produced in very limited quantities. During the same session with Sugano-san, he also remarked that the best performing cantilever assembly he has ever used is one that is machined completely out of a piece of diamond! What better way is there if you want to eliminate all interface problems between the diamond stylus and the cantilever?
